| Bombay Sewer System |
| Engineering Science/World Bank |
|
India |
Task Manager for the development of plans and specifications for site investigations for the planning and design of the sewerage system for the entire City of Bombay, India. The work included site visits of all planned facilities including 35 main pump stations, 12 tunnels, 6 wastewater treatment facilities, and 4 very large (1 km by 200 m each) sludge drying beds, as well as the route of the main sewer lines. Developed investigation document that specified the locations and depths for borings/sampling, testing and methodology and analytical methods to be used for analysis of data and development of recommendations. |
| |
| Contaminant Source Assessment |
| Camp Pendleton MAFB |
|
California |
Project Manager for the planning, sampling and evaluation of the wastewater at a large number of sampling points, measurement of and times of arrival and concentrations to assess the source(s) of industrial wastes (generally solvents used in finishing processes) in the Camp?s waste sewerage system. |
| |
| Hyperion Treatment Plant Expansion |
|
|
California |
Project Engineer for geotechnical investigations and seismological studies for the expansion of the wastewater plant facilities. |
| |
| Joseph Jensen Filtration Plant |
| Metropolitan Water District |
|
Southern California |
Project Manager for geotechnical and seismological investigations of the filtration plant site following the San Fernando Earthquake of 02/09/1971 which caused extensive damage at the plant. Investigated the extent and causes of damage (liquefaction and lateral deformation). Also provided recommendations for densification of soil and rehabilitation of the facilities. |
| |
| Proposed Earth Dam and Reclaimed Water Reservoir |
| City of Industry, Dept. of Public Works |
|
|
Project Manager & Project Engineer for geotechnical investigations of the site and proposed facilities, including finite element analysis of seepage, using variable head boundary condition finite element (first time in U.S. outside of academia) analysis, through the earth dam section of the proposed unlined treated wastewater reservoir in the City of Industry. The results were then used to assess the stability of slopes, and to evaluate total seepage quantity and potential impacts to the groundwater. |
| |
| Proposed Treated Wastewater Reservoir |
| Pebble Beach Public Utilities Department |
|
|
Project Manager and Project Engineer for feasibility investigations of the proposed treated wastewater reservoir. Investigations included borings and sampling and laboratory testing, and preliminary design and stability evaluations for the reservoir em-bankment, location of proposed treatment plant, and along the 1.5-mile main water line. |
| |
| Report of Waste Discharge |
| Wastewater Treatment/Sludge Drying Bed Facilities |
|
California |
Principal-in-Charge for the evaluation of geotechnical and geohydrological setting of the facilities, and develop-ment and certification of the Work Plan for ROWD-which was approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board. |
| |
| Sludge Drying Bed Closure |
| USS-POSCO Industries |
|
California |
Principal-in-Charge of closure construction oversight activities, sampling and testing, and preparation and certification of closure of five sludge drying beds. |
| |
| Wastewater Plant Expansion and Cogeneration Facilities |
|
|
California |
Principal-in-Charge of all geotechnical and earthquake engineering investigations related to the proposed expansion of the existing wastewater treatment plant including recommen-dations for the proposed co-generation facilities. |
| |
| Wastewater Treatment Plant/Overflow |
| USS-POSCO Industries |
|
California |
Principal-in-Charge of evaluation of wastestream concentrations from the metal finishing processing facilities as well as the stormwater inflows into the wastewater treatment plant and overflow impoundments prior to discharge into the NPDES permitted outfall. Also prepared Report of Waste Discharge (ROWD) and Closure Plan/Post Closure Monitoring Plan for the six wastewater overflow impoundments. Supervised the closure design and closure construction monitoring and certified the closures per RCRA and California TPCA. |
